DGN Delegation Visits Akwa Ibom, Praises Gov Eno's Strides in Entertainment

Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) high-powered delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Akwa Ibom State Government on Monday, September 2,2024 to explore collaboration opportunities for hosting the 25th anniversary celebration of the Nollywood guild in the state.
The delegation, comprising John Paul Nwanganga (National Director of Socials & Welfare), Ofia Mbaka (National Assistant Secretary), and C.C Ugoji (Coordinator, DGN Abia State Chapter), commended Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering support to the entertainment industry.
Receiving the delegation, Mr. David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom), Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Entertainment, expressed delight at the prospect of hosting the milestone event. He was accompanied by colleagues Godfada Uko, Eno James, Moses Eskor, and Mary Afia who are aides to the governor on entertainment.
During the meeting, the DGN delegation tabled a motion to relocate the Nollywood hub to Akwa Ibom State, citing the state's rich cultural heritage, numerous talents and Governor Eno's commitment to the entertainment industry.
"We are impressed by Governor Eno's vision for the entertainment sector, and we believe Akwa Ibom State has the potential to become the new hub for Nollywood," said John Paul Nwanganga.
Mr. Sergeant assured the delegation of the state government's willingness to collaborate and provide necessary support for the anniversary celebration. According to him, "this partnership will not only boost the entertainment industry but also showcase Akwa Ibom's rich cultural diversity and talents to the world," he said.
The proposed collaboration is expected to foster a stronger relationship between the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Nollywood guild, paving the way for future projects and initiatives.
